How to Turn on AirDrop and Use It on iPhone or iPad

I am a new iOS user. I want to send some live photos from my iPhone to my friend's iPhone. I've heard that using AirDrop to transfer items doesn't degrade the quality. How can I do this with AirDrop? Thank you!

To transfer photos, videos, or other files with AirDrop, you need to turn on AirDrop on your iPhone and another iOS device, select items to share, and accept AirDrop on the target iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

▶ Part 1. Turn on AirDrop on both your iPhone and another iOS device.

  • Step 1. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your iPhone's screen to launch the Control Center.
  • Step 2. Press and hold the "WiFi" button until you can see 6 further options (Airplane Mode, Cellar Data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirDrop, and Personal Hotspot) appear on the screen.
  • Step 3. If your WiFi and Bluetooth are not turned on, tap their respective icons to enable them.
  • Step 4. Tap "AirDrop".
  • Step 5. Choose "Contacts Only" or "Everyone" (recommended). Tap Receiving Off to turn the AirDrop off.

Note: If you only see Receiving Off and cannot tap to change it, navigate to "Settings" > "Screen Time" > "Content and Privacy Restrictions". Then choose "Allowed apps" and toggle on "AirDrop".

▶ Part 2. AirDrop to another device.

  • Step 1. On your iPhone, open an app or file. For example, launch the Photo app.
  • Step 2. Select one or multiple photos and tap "AirDrop".
  • Step 3. Choose and tap the people you want to AirDrop. You can also AirDrop to your own Apple devices.

▶ Part 3. Accept AirDrop on the target device.

  • Step 1. On the target iOS device, you will see an alert and a quick preview.
  • Step 2. Tap Accept to receive these shared items or Tap Decline to refuse the transfer.
  • Step 3. Wait for the transfer process to finish.
