Does iCloud Backup Include Photos?

So, I was checking how I should back up my iPhone photos in the cloud, as previously, every few weeks, I manually synced them with my iPhone on my Mac via cable. If the iPhone iCloud backup is turned on while iCloud sync for photos is off, will it still back up my photos?

Yes, iCloud Backup includes photos as part of the backup process. When you enable iCloud Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, your device will automatically back up your photos along with other important data such as app data, device settings, messages, and more to your iCloud storage.

To ensure that your photos are included in your iCloud Backup, you can follow these steps:

  • Turn on iCloud Backup: Go to Settings on your device, tap on your name at the top, then select iCloud > iCloud Backup. Toggle the switch to enable iCloud Backup.
  • Back up your device: Once iCloud Backup is enabled, your device will automatically back up your photos and other data to iCloud when it is connected to Wi-Fi, locked, and plugged into power.
  • Check your iCloud Storage: To see if your photos are being backed up to iCloud, you can go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage, and then tap on your device to see the backup details.

By backing up your photos to iCloud, you can ensure that your precious memories are safe and accessible in case you lose or upgrade your device.

However, iCloud only provides 5 GB of storage for free use. If you don't want to pay for extra cloud storage, you can back up your photos and videos to your computer or external hard drive. In this case, EaseUS MobiMover is helpful since it will transfer all your pictures and videos at once via a cable without losing quality.

Step 1. Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch EaseUS MobiMover.

Step 2. Choose Phone to PC > Select Pictures > Click Transfer.

Step 3. Then, it will start the transfer process. Do not use your phones until the data transfer is completed.
