To find out why is Snapchat not working, the first step we need to make sure of is the Settings, including Internet connection, Snapchat settings, and phone settings. Now we will check them all one by one carefully.
If your network is unconnected and you are not aware of it, you would not receive any notifications and messages. At this point, you need to check your Wi-Fi is connected stably. If it's not available or unstable, you can disconnect it and then connect again, or try another Internet.
Once you make sure your network is accessible and normal, then check whether you turn on all the sliders of the various notifications, such as the sliders of Bitmojis in Notifications, Stories from Friends, Mentions and other notifications.
To turn on the Snapchat Notifications:
Step 1. Start the Snapchat app.
Step 2. Tap your account icon at the top left.
Step 3. Tap Settings at the top right.
Step 4. Then tap Notifications.
Step 5. Turn on the toggles of the notifications you want to receive.
If your Snapchat is not working, you also have to make sure you have enabled the phone notifications for the Snapchat app, except for the internal settings of the app.
To turn on the phone notifications for the Snapchat app:
Step 1. Go to Settings on your phone.
Step 2. Tap Snapchat. This will come to the Notification screen.
Step 3. Toggle the slider of Allow Notifications to the right to enable the Snapchat app notifications.
If your phone is in Do Not Disturb mode, it means that you could never receive any messages or notifications from others. However, It is easily overlooked if your phone is in Do Not Disturb mode. So check your phone's mode with the following steps.
Step 1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
Step 2. Look for the Do not disturb shortcut button.
Step 3. If it's enabled, tap it to turn it off.
Once you perform troubleshooting for the content of Part 1, and the problem of Snapchat notifications not working is still outstanding, then we will try some reset solutions. In this section, we will fix the problem from three aspects: Snapchat login, Snapchat reinstallation, and the phone restart.
Now let's look at the first way - log out and log back in.
The Snapchat notification cannot also work as usual if some unknown bugs happen to your account when it's running. We don't need to find the issue. We just log out and log back in to see whether the issue is addressed.
To log out and log back in:
Step 1. Open the Snapchat app.
Step 2. Tap your account at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Then tap Settings and scroll to the bottom of the screen.
Step 4. Tap Log Out. Select OK to confirm the logout.
Step 5. At last, log back into the Snapchat app.
If your Snapchat app is outdated for a few years or some unknown failure has happened to your app, it may also lead to the problem of Snapchat notifications not working. In this case, we can uninstall or delete our Snapchat app from our Android or iPhone, and install the latest version of the app from the app store.
To update to the latest version of the Snapchat app, there's a slight difference between Android and iPhone. For how to delete apps on iPhone, you can refer to here for solutions.
As for the uninstallation of apps on Android, it's quite easy:
Step 1. Press and hold the app icon on the home screen until a panel including the uninstallation option pops up.
Step 2. Then click Uninstall to delete your outdated app.
Step 3. Then download and install the latest version of the app to your phone.
If all of the methods mentioned above cannot address the issue of Snapchat notifications not working, we have a final "silver bullet" - restarting your phone. As we all know, restarting can solve most of the failures that happen on our phones. Perhaps it would be a preferable course of action.
