Jean updated on May 20, 2024 to iOS Questions and Answers

My iPhone 13 is almost paid off and I have the option of keeping it as long as possible or switching to T-Mobile's iPhone 15. cheaper cell phone bills are a good thing, but I think the 15 has Dynamic Island and USB-C, which is nice. Any 13 users here want to upgrade? Why or why not?

If you want to embrace changes in the USB-C port, camera system, A16 Bionic, and Dynamic Island, you can upgrade from iPhone 13 to iPhone 15 for different experiences. If you consider these aspects unnecessary and your iPhone 13 still runs smoothly, you can probably wait another year before upgrading.

Let's look at the easy-to-understand comparison between iPhone 13 and iPhone 15:

  • Design: a notch vs. the newer Dynamic Island
  • Charging: a Lightning cable vs. a USB-C cable.
  • Specs: 60Hz refresh rate and 1200 nits peak brightness vs. 60Hz refresh rate, 2000 nits peak brightness, and 1600 peak HDR brightness
  • Performance: 4GB of RAM and A15 Bionic vs. 6GB of RAM and A16 Bionic
  • Camera: 12MP main camera vs. 48MP main camera (new features, better-quality images, and improved low-light capabilities)
  • Battery life and charging: both the same: up to 19 hours of video playback; 20W wired and 15W wireless with MagSafe
