Gorilla updated on Apr 01, 2024 to iOS Questions and Answers

Shared Album is one of features in the Photos app on Apple devies. When you share photos or videos with your family or friends, you may find that the image quality is lower than the original pictures. Is that normal? Read on and find the answer.

Yes. It has some limitations on the image pixels and size of photos and videos in Shared Albums, including:

  • The long edge of a photo can be up to 2048 pixels.
  • Panoramic photos can be up to 5400 pixels wide.
  • GIFs are no more than 100MB.
  • Videos can be up to 15 minutes long and with a maximium resolution of 720p.
  • Sometimes, the metadata of the photo may be removed out depending on user settings for uploading the photo.

Once the photos or videos with full resolutin exceeds these limits, they would be reduced quality. In addition, you are allowed to upload no more than 5000 photos/videos with a maximum share size of 1GB, according to Apple's official docuemnt: Shared Album Limits.

If you want to share some clear photos and videos with your friends and family or just intend to backup important photos with original quality, you can save the photos and videos from iPhone to computer. In that case, EaseUS MobiMover (free) can be helpful for you.
