Transfer Contacts from iPhone 5 to 6S: No iCloud or iTunes

I'm trying to transfer contacts from my iPhone 5 to 6S. These are my troubles so far: the automatic setup option is unavailable for my iPhone 5 iOS 10.3.3; iCloud on the old device refuses to back up; it starts to back up, but the Estimated Time goes from 5min to 10 to 15, etc., without actually progressing, and eventually times out. When I tried to back up with iTunes, it said it couldn't read any data. Do you have any way out?
