How to Delete Photos from iCloud Storage on iPhone

Myra updated on Aug 07, 2024 to iOS Questions and Answers

I just bought the new iPhone 13, and I have almost 10,000 photos on my old iPhone X. I want to delete all the photos from my iCloud but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

To delete photos from iCloud storage on your iPhone, follow these steps:

Deleting Photos from iCloud via the Photos App

Step 1. Launch the Photos app on your iPhone.

Step 2. Tap on the Library tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3. Tap on All Photos. Then, tap Select in the top right corner and choose the photos or videos you want to delete.

Step 4. Tap the trash can icon at the bottom right, then confirm by tapping Delete Photo.

Deleting Photos from iCloud via the iCloud.com

Step 1. Go to visit iCloud.com and sign into your account.

Step 2. Select Photos from the iCloud website homepage.

Step 3. Choose the photos or videos you want to delete and tap the delete button.

Deleting Photos from iCloud on iOS 17 and Later

If you update to iOS 17 and later, you can go to Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Recommended for You > Review Photos & Videos to delete duplicate photos, screenshots, or videos that you no longer need.

Deleted photos will move to the Recently Deleted album, where they will remain for 30 days. To permanently delete them, go to the Recently Deleted folder, tap Select, choose the photos, and then tap Delete All to remove them permanently.

🔍Important Notes:

  • If you have iCloud Photos enabled, deleting photos from your iPhone will also delete them from iCloud and any other devices using the same Apple ID.
  • If you want to delete photos from iCloud but keep them on your iPhone, you'll need to disable iCloud Photos syncing first. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos and toggle off iCloud Photos. After this, you can delete photos from iCloud via the iCloud website without affecting those on your device.
  • It's advisable to back up your iPhone before deletion, as recovery may not be possible once they are permanently deleted. To back up your iCloud Photos, try EaseUS MobiMover, which can extract your iCloud data in one click.

How to Back Up iCloud Photos:

  • Launch EaseUS MobiMover on your computer and tap iCloud Manager.
  • Sign into your iCloud account, and you can access your iCloud data on your computer.
  • Click the 'Export iCloud Data to a Computer with one Click' option, and all the iCloud files will be downlaoded to your PC.
