The system data will grow as you use your iPhone. There are also many reasons behind the 'system taking up so much storage' issue.

  • The iOS system has many applications and services, such as Siri, maps, emails, etc. These applications and their related data and cache will increase with time.
  • The cache and data of applications (such as system albums, text messages, emails, etc.) will also be accounted for.
  • After each iOS system update, new system files and temporary files required for the update will occupy a certain amount of space.
  • The iOS system will automatically reserve a part of the space for system operation and future software updates.
  • Browser data may also be classified as system-intensive, especially if Safari's offline reading list feature is used.

The System data on the iPhone is the data produced by the operating system and any included applications. The longer you use your iPhone, the more cached data your iPhone will generate. Therefore, the system takes up so much storage on your iPhone.

You can use some easy tips to clear the system data, like restart your iPhone, clear the Safari cache, and delete iOS update files. If nothing works, you may need to factory reset your iPhone. This will delete everthing on your iPhone. So you should be careful to do this.
