How Can I Transfer All of My Photos to My PC for Backup?

Myra updated on Mar 28, 2024 to iOS Questions and Answers

All I want to do is transfer my photos to my PC (or external drive) for backup. Why is this such a painful task? It's an iPhone SE, iOS 17.1.1. I've tried the drag-and-drop method, but only 10 photos get transferred. I've tried the Windows photo app, but it recognizes about 10% of the photos. I can't just select all photos to transfer to my computer without a giant headache. Any tips would be appreciated.

The easiest way for you to transfer all photos from iPhone to computer is to apply third-party software. EaseUS MobiMover is a professional data transfer tool that is able to transfer photos from your iPhone to your computer, external hard drive, USB flash drive, iPad, and Android.

To Transfer All Photos to PC/HDD for Backup:

Step 1. Install EaseUS MobiMover on your computer and launch it.

Step 2. Connect your iPhone to your Windows computer and choose Phone to PC mode.

Step 3. Select the category of Photos and click Transfer to start the process.

You can adjust the location where to store your transferred photos. Also, you can change the location to the connected external hard drive or USB flash drive if you have a large size of pictures to back up.

If your Windows computer cannot recognize all your photos in the camera roll, this is because your pictures are in HEIC format, which Windows does not support. In 2017, Apple decided to use the High Efficiency Image Container format in iOS 11, which allows Apple users to keep high-quality pictures with smaller file sizes. However, this format is not compatible with all systems. You need to convert the format. Luckily, EaseUS MobiMover can do it:

To Convert HEIC to JPG:

Step 1. Launch EaseUS MobiMover on your computer and choose HEIC to JPG.

Step 2. Drag and drop all the HEIC photos to MobiMover. Or, click Browse to select the HEIC pictures on your PC.

Step 3. Click Convert to start the process. Click View to check all the converted photos when it finishes.
