I use Google Photos as my backup. But today, I found some of my photos had disappeared! Does Google Photos delete thousands of my photos?

Generally, Google Photos will not delete your photos. Some rare situations may cause Google Photos to delete your photos.

  • Your storage is full, and without purchasing additional storage, Google Photos will stop backing up new photos and videos.
  • Your photo violates Google's terms of service or policies.
  • Google may adopt certain account cleanup policies for accounts that have not been logged in or been active for a long time, but this is not common.

If you find some of your photos are missing, you can apply some methods to check this situation and fix the issue. You may have accidentally deleted the photo. Google Photos offers a recycle bin feature where you can restore recently deleted photos or videos, but only within 60 days. You can purchase additional storage space or delete unnecessary files to free up space and ensure that your backup photos are not automatically removed. If you log in to the wrong account or have account permission issues, you may not be able to find the expected photos. Please make sure to log in with the correct Google account and check the account permission settings.
