My friend just created a Shared Album with me on iPhone. I want to know if the Sared Albums take up storage? And if I set up a shared album, will the photos of this album fill up everyone's iPhone or iCloud storage in this group?
No. Shared Albums in the Photos app on iPhone are stored iCloud storage, not the storage on your iPhone. A shared album can hold up to 5000 photos and videos without taking up storage space on your iPhone. And they don't count against your iCloud storage limit. When you create a Shared Album and add photos or videos to it, they are uploaded to iCloud and shared with the people you invite to view the album, which also don't take up storage on their devices. The media files themselves are stored in iCloud, not on anybody's device.
Will shared albums work if iCloud storage is full? The shared albums have nothing to do with your iCloud storage status. They are just saved in iCloud, not using the iCloud storage limit even if it's full. All the photos and videos in shared albums don't count against your iCloud storage limit.
