The issues are disparate but all related to iOS updating, such as iPhone screen recording not working, iPhone live wallpaper won't display properly or iPhone brightness keeps changing we will discuss in this post. Keep reading to see how to fix iPhone brightness keeps dimming or going up/down by itself in iOS 11.

5 effective fixes to iPhone brightness keeps changing in iOS 11/11.1/1.2

Based on what we've known, the iPhone brightness keeps changing in iOS 11 is mostly caused by Auto-Brightness feature on iPhone or the iOS bugs problem. Try to fix it with methods below.

1. Disable auto-brightness on iPhone

If you have enabled auto-brightness on your iPhone in iOS 11, your iPhone will use a light sensor to adjust brightness based on your surroundings, which means the brightness will keep changing by itself. You can disable this ambient-light sensor by:

Going to "Settings" > "Display & Brightness" > find "True Tone" and turn it off.

2. Reset the brightness

After you have disabled the light sensor mode, you can reset your iPhone brightness to check your iPhone brightness keeps changing or not. Do it in two ways:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Display & Brightness" > slide right or left to adjust the brightness based on your own needs.
  • Swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone screen to activate the "Control Center" in iOS 11, find the brightness button and adjust it to the best state.

3. Restart your iPhone

If your iPhone brightness still keeps changing in iOS 11 after you have turn off the True Tone feature, you can try to restart your iPhone to fix the issues caused by running cash, like iPhone notification not working in iOS 11.

Restart iPhone 6/7/8: Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button until the red slider shows up, then drag the "slider to power off". After 30 seconds later, press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button again until the Apple logo appears on your iPhone.

Restart iPhone X:  Press and hold both Side button and Volume Down ( or Volume Up) buttons at the same time until you see the slider. Drag the slider to shut down your iPhone X completely. After 30 seconds later, press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button again until the Apple logo appears on your iPhone.

4. Update to the latest iOS version

If your iPhone brightness keeps going up and down or keeps dimming all the way can be solved by using the methods below, you can update to the latest iOS version to troubleshoot if the matter is iOS-related.

Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Software Update" > check whether there is a new version or not. If yes, tap "Download and Install" to start to install the latest iOS 11 version on your iPhone.
