If your iCloud storage is full, you should free up some storage space on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. In this article, we will show you how to manage iCloud storage space to get more free space for other data.

Step 1. Check available iCloud storage space

You can check the available iCloud storage to see how much space left. Here is how to check available iCloud storage space on your iPhone, iPad and iPad Touch:

• For iOS 10.3 or later: select "Settings" > "[your name]" > "iCloud". Tap "iCloud Storage" or "Manage Storage".
• For iOS 10.2 or older: select Settings > iCloud > Storage.

Step 2. Manage iCloud Storage - 4 Methods

After you have checked the available storage space in your iCloud and fund that there was not enough space, you can manage the storage to get more space.

Method 1. Turn off the apps that should not be backed up

If you use iCloud for backing up your iPhone content and settings, every newly installed app will be automatically backed up in your iCloud. Many applications compile data for iCloud, but in many cases, a backup is not necessary. You can set which apps should be backed up to iCloud and delete existing backups from your storage. Proceed as follows on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch in iOS 10.3 or newer:

Select Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud.
If you use iOS 11, tap Manage Storage > Backup. If you use iOS 10.3, tap iCloud Storage > Manage Storage. 
Tap the name of any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch device associated with your account.
Under "Choose data to back up", turn off all apps that should not be backed up.
Select "Turn off & Delete".

Method 2. Delete backups and disable iCloud backup for your device

You can delete the existing backups in iCloud to make more free space.

For iOS 10.3 or newer:

• Select Settings >[Your Name] > "iCloud".
• If you are using iOS 11, tap Manage Storage > Backup. If you are using iOS 10.3, tap iCloud Storage > Manage Storage. 
• Tap the name of any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch device associated with your account.
• Tap on "Delete Backup" > "Turn off & Delete".

Method 3. Delete unwanted data on your iOS devices

Delete Mails: If you use your iCloud address for mails, these are also saved in your 5 GB of free storage in iCloud. Open your mail on your device and delete all the useless messages with large attachments, for example.

Delete iCloud Drive data: If you use iCloud Drive, it will also be loaded to your iCloud storage. You will also find the function in the "iCloud" category. If you also want to delete some data, open the iCloud-Drive or log in on your PC by iCloud.com.
