There is no better way than erasing your iPhone to protect your private data. Wiping your iPhone is necessary before you give or sell it to others. To erase all contents and settings on an iPhone is quite easy, but there is something else you need to do first, which is to back up your iPhone to computer. If you have transferred all data from your old iPhone to your new iPhone, you can follow Part 2 to erase your iPhone directly. While if not, you'd better follow Part 1 to back up your iPhone to computer first and then wipe your iPhone using the steps in Part 2.
To back up your iPhone to computer safely without any cost or limitation, you can use an absolutely free iOS data transfer software, EaseUS MobiMover Free. With MobiMover installed on your PC, you can export contents from iPhone/iPad (in iOS 8 or later) to PC, add files from computer to iPhone/iPad and sync data from one iPhone to another free of charge. Files including photos, movies, TV shows, music videos, home videos, music, ringtones, voice memos, audiobooks, contacts, messages, notes, calendars, and more can all be transferred to or out of your iPhone/iPad. What's more, MobiMover can also serve as a free iPhone content manager to help you delete/edit/add items from computer. Learn how to back up your iPhone from the steps below and then erase your iPhone X, iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus without worrying about loss of important files.
Step 1. Connect your new iPhone X or iPhone 8 to your computer with a USB cable. Tap "Trust This Computer" on your iPhone screen if a pop-up asks. Run EaseUS MobiMover and go to the "Backup Manager" mode. Click "Backup" to start backing up iPhone X or iPhone 8 to your Window PC.
Step 2. MobiMover enables you to backup all files with a single click. Before getting started, you can change the default backup location by clicking on the "Select" at the bottom of the screen. After that, tick the box next to the "Select All" to start backing up.
Step 3. During the process of backup, don't disconnect your iPhone. Otherwise, you need to start it again.
Note: If you want to restore the backup to your iPhone, note that this will wipe out all the content, settings, and preference on your device and then replace it with what's in the backup. If this is not what you want, just use "Phone to PC" mode to transfer what you want to the PC for safekeeping.
To set up your iPhone as new, there are two ways to make it. One is to erase all content and settings from your iPhone directly, the other is to reset your iPhone to factory settings with the help of iTunes. Choose the method you prefer to apply to your device.
